Fort Point Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm, announced today that it has acquired a new platform through the recapitalization of AMS Fulfillment Holdings, LLC (“AMS,” “Advantage Media Services, LLC.” or the “Company”), a full service outsourced logistics provider offering order management, warehouse and inventory management, reverse logistics and other value-added, complex fulfillment services to fast growing consumer products companies primarily in the beauty/cosmetics, apparel, footwear and accessories sectors.
The Company offers omnichannel fulfillment services with a specialization in e-commerce fulfillment. Headquartered in Valencia, California, AMS is a founder owned and operated company and is a certified B Corporation as a result of its deep commitment to workforce development and community involvement. The founders will retain a large minority stake and continue on in key management roles. “We are excited to partner with Ken Wiseman, Jay Catlin, Betty-Lou Wiseman and the rest of the AMS employees to support the Company’s next phase of growth,” said Christina Pai, Partner at Fort Point Capital. “We believe AMS’ demonstrated execution and customer support capabilities create tremendous value for its customer base and that the Company will continue to benefit from its stellar reputation in the market and the strong tailwinds from the e-commerce retail channel.”
“We believe Fort Point is the perfect partner for AMS,” said Jay Catlin, a founder of AMS, on behalf of the Company’s management team. “Fort Point’s extensive background investing in the third-party logistics space combined with its focus on partnering with management teams to create value with businesses of this size and stage of growth will be extremely valuable to AMS.”
“This investment continues Fort Point’s core strategy of partnering with founders of business services companies that we believe can benefit from our operating and transactional expertise” said Michael Hermsen, Advisory Partner at Fort Point Capital.
AMS is Fort Point’s ninth platform investment. Over the past twelve months, Fort Point has closed nine transactions, including the exit of one of its portfolio companies, two new platform investments and six add-on acquisitions in support of its portfolio.
TCF Capital Funding, New Canaan Funding and Siguler Guff & Company provided debt financing for the transaction; Kirkland & Ellis and RSM advised Fort Point.
