Fort Point Capital Invests in Nuclear Safety Market Leader Engineering Planning and Management, Inc.

Boston, MA — Fort Point Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority equity interest in Engineering Planning and Management, Inc. (“EPM” or the “Company”), a global provider of engineering, consulting, probabilistic risk assessment, fire protection services, and specialized, unique software to the nuclear power industry and other commercial customers. The Company’s products and services address the safety challenges faced by nuclear power generation facilities through mission critical software and professional engineering services. EPM’s engineers rely on proprietary software combined with extraordinarily detailed facility information to assess, plan, and implement solutions for improvement and/or regulatory compliance. EPM is headquartered in Framingham, MA.

Founded in 1980, EPM has built a reputation as the premier service and software provider to U.S. and international utilities, as energy firms look to modernize, maintain, upgrade, and comply with safety standards in the face of shifting industry regulations. The Company has provided services to the vast majority of the nuclear power facilities across the U.S. and Canada.

“My management team and I were searching for a partner who would bring a network of valuable industry contacts and expertise, as well as provide the strategic and financial resources for our continued growth. We are excited about our partnership with Fort Point and believe their experience working with middle market companies and commitment to growth will help us continue to scale our organization while providing the best consulting and software solutions for our customers,” said Wade Larson, founder of EPM. “We are expanding our engineering team to meet the domestic and international needs of our clients. Customers rely on EPM to provide the highest level of service and quality in the nuclear safety industry. With Fort Point’s support, we are well positioned for strong growth,” said Robert Kalantari, CEO of EPM.

“We believe that Wade, Bob and their management team have built a market leading consulting and software practice with significant growth potential,” said Brooke Ablon, a General Partner at Fort Point Capital. “We are excited by the prospect of working with the team to expand EPM’s offerings in the global energy market.”
