EPM Announces Nuclear and Software Industry Luminaries Join Company’s Board of Directors
Framingham, MA — Engineering, Planning and Management, Inc. (“EPM” or “the Company”), a provider of engineering consulting, software, and risk assessment services to the nuclear industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Christopher, former CEO of Areva NP; Bill McCollum, former COO of the Tennessee Valley Authority; and Jack Hughes, founder and former Chairman of Top Coder and Tallan, to the Company’s Board of Directors.
“Tom and Bill spent their careers in leadership positions in nuclear power in the U.S. and abroad. Their insider knowledge will help ensure that EPM continues to put its customer needs above all else. Jack has been leading and advising software and IT services companies on the growth of their businesses, technology platforms, and product lines for 30 years,” said Bob Kalantari, Chief Executive Officer of EPM. “His experience helping companies develop leading edge software will push us at EPM to always think about how software can enable our world class engineering consultants working in partnership with customers to meet regulatory requirements on time and within budget.”

Mr. Christopher was previously the President and Chief Executive Officer at Areva NP. Areva NP is involved in engineering, instrumentation and control, and maintenance and repair services for nuclear power plants, as well as in components manufacturing and supply of nuclear fuel. Prior to Areva, Mr. Christopher served as the Vice President of the Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation’s Energy Services Divisions. Prior to that, he served as the General Manager of the Westinghouse Nuclear Service Division. Mr. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the US Naval Academy, a Master of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics from Georgia Tech, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He also served as an officer in the Naval Nuclear Submarine program. Mr. Christopher serves on the Board of Directors of Babcock & Wilcox Company.
Mr. McCollum worked at the Tennessee Valley Authority as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he was responsible for all Generation, Transmission, Construction and River Operations functions and associated support activities for the nation’s largest public power provider. Previously, Mr. McCollum was Executive Vice President and Chief Regulated Generation Officer with Duke Energy. In this role, he was responsible for leadership of Regulated Fossil-Hydro Generation, Engineering & Technical Services, Procurement, Regulated Bulk Power Marketing and New Generation Construction (Fossil and Nuclear). Prior to this, Mr. McCollum was Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development with Duke. Mr. McCollum holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech, and a Master of Business Administration from UNC-Charlotte.
Mr. Hughes is an entrepreneur and investor in the digital innovation space. He is the founder and chairman of TopCoder, the world’s largest platform for digital open innovation in the software market (analytics, web, mobile). TopCoder was sold in the fall of 2013. Previously, Mr. Hughes was the Co-founder, chairman and CEO of Tallan, a digital development consultancy, which provided high-end (data, web and new technology) development services to a large Fortune 500 customer base. Tallan was sold in 2000. Mr. Hughes is listed as inventor on numerous patents related to software development in a community setting, creative design and other platforms. Mr. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Boston College. He is Chairman of the Board of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
