Questions & answers
I like to say we prefer to “set a trend” than “follow a trend”. While no idea is original in PE, we are constantly looking for opportunities in spaces that may have been previously overlooked by other firms. Fort Point has a great track record of identifying verticals that are ready for consolidation and in need of professionalization.
We have a great team here at Fort Point. From top to bottom, we have not only skilled deal makers and operators but great people throughout the organization. PE firms are judged by their ability to get deals done and grow their investments. I am extremely confident in the team’s ability to accomplish both.
The variety of exposure you get to different business models and industries, and the constant flow of activity are really what excite me the most. I am always amazed by the number of different business models and sub-sectors I come across that I never thought of before. While deal flow may fluctuate over time, there’s always an interesting opportunity/idea that keeps me engaged.
Clearly communicating our message to the broader deal community. As the firm’s Director of Business Development, I focus on deal origination and evaluation of investment opportunities. It is imperative that we provide a coherent message to the broader investment community about the firm’s approach and how we differentiate ourselves.
I enjoy meeting and interacting with people, particularly with those who have different backgrounds and experience in life. Being in PE is unique in that you are constantly surrounded by intelligent, accomplished individuals with all kinds of interesting and beneficial life experiences and lessons to share. I try my best to absorb them as much as possible.
I’m a big sports fan and can never turn down an invite to a sporting event. I like to stay active too, so I’m always looking for an opportunity to get a round of 18 in or some basketball runs. When I’m not being active, I’m looking for the next city to travel to or a museum to check out.
