NRG Controls (the “Company”), a portfolio company of Fort Point Capital, announced the successful acquisition of Nexgen Automation, a highly regarded regional building automation systems integrator serving Central and Eastern Pennsylvania.
This partnership brings together two organizations with shared values, complementary strengths, and a strong commitment to customer service while preserving the local identity, leadership, and operations that have made Nexgen Automation a trusted name to customers.
“This is a strategic partnership built around strengthening what already works and building on key resources to ensure we are focused on our customers’ needs,” said Dave Sholtis, CEO of NRG Controls. “Nexgen has built an exceptional local reputation, and our role is to support that success with additional resources, expertise, and long-term stability — not to change who they are.”
Through this partnership, Nexgen Automation will gain access to NRG Controls’ broader service offering, including security, fire and life safety, and lighting. The partnership will also expand engineering and technical support, add enterprise level systems, and provide additional project delivery resources — enabling Nexgen Automation to pursue more growth opportunities and better serve customers while preserving local decision making.
“This partnership allows us to grow without losing our identity,” said Steve Keefer, Principal of Nexgen Automation. “Our customers will continue to receive best-in-class service, enhanced by the backing of a larger organization that supports our long-term vision.”
“We are excited to welcome Steve Keefer, Don Eisenhauer, Shane Winters, and the entire team at Nexgen Automation to the NRG family,” said David Gagliardi, Principal at Fort Point Capital. “This partnership marks an exciting milestone for the Company, and we are excited about the combined potential of the businesses.”
The acquisition reflects NRG Controls’ continued investment in high-quality, locally operated businesses and its commitment to building a strong, scalable platform rooted in regional expertise and relationships.
Vorys and Cohen & Co. advised NRG Controls on the transaction. Financing for the transaction was provided by NRG Controls’ existing lender, Crescent Capital.
